What is Reiki:
Reiki is a modality where the “laying of hands” is used on order to bring healing energy to the areas being treated. Through touch, warmth, love, care, serenity, peace and healing is transferred to the client to enhance a person’s life force energy.
When we experience hurt or pain, we naturally put our hands on the injured part of our body to subdue the pain, bring some relief and possibly heal it.
In the same way, a mother would caress or kiss their child’s wounds or scrapes. When a loved one is sick, we touch them or hold their hands to convey comfort and care to them.
Even animals have this natural instinct to lick their wounds, or each other’s wounds, to convey care, comfort and healing.
Touching to heal or laying of hands stems from the principle that every living being, man or animal, has life force energy and this life force radiates from all parts of a person.
Reiki is the harnessing and channeling of this life force energy to assist in the healing process, with the use of different Reiki techniques.
Difference between Reiki and other healing modalities:
Reiki is not a religion or based upon any religion. It’s a healing modality developed by Mikao Usui. He studied different samurai and other eastern healing techniques, as well as Tibetan healing methodologies, for many years, and so, Reiki was developed.
Reiki has the advantage of treating all 8 bodies we have. The physical body as well as the 7 non-visible auric bodies that guide the state of our physical body.
While modern medicine only treats the physical body, Reiki works on all 8 bodies, making it a wonderful complimentary modality to any other medical or non-medical treatment.
